DNAm Biological age is the most well publicised method of tracking internal age, which we analyse through our own CpG site calculations and algorithm.
DNA methylation (DNAm) is a process where tiny chemical markers called methyl groups will attach to your DNA and largely control the way that they function without changing the actual DNA sequence.
As we naturally age these methyl groups will either hypo (low) or hyper (high) methylate regions across your genome , which will then affect how specific genes and biological processes function.
While external characteristics can sometimes give us an insight into our internal health, in many instances we can simply misinterpret external factors such as leaner muscles , faster running
times or eating a certain type of diet
as they do not actually actuate to being healthier.
MuhdoAge is an epigenetic clock that is based on DNA methylation. It utilises tiered CpG sites in line with disease
, lifestyle
, environment
, and chronological age.
The MuhdoAge clock is a saliva based biological clock that is independent of any other inputs (i.e. requires no DOB or other metrics).
Ageing is often just represented in time and how many years you have been alive. However, in reality, a multitude of aspects will affect the rate to which we age.
Epigenetics and DNA methylation are the new and exciting area of genetics, which explains how our lifestyle and environment affects how our genes function and express themselves.
The MuhdoAge clock has been made open source and all information can be found in the preprint..
