How Melon 🍉 can enhance gene expression 🧬🧬
How can eating Muskmelon 🍉 each day enhance gene expression and improve your Longevity.
Not a fruit that is probably accustomed to your fridge or fruit bowel if you live in the UK, but one which after reading this might give you food for thought when you are next in the supermarket?
So why could Muskmelon 🍉 be key to your Longevity?
Because it helps to induce a “Super Enzyme” called Superoxide dismutase (SOD)
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an endogenous antioxidant enzyme found in nearly all living cells, which comes in two forms:
1. Mitochondrial (contained within the mitochondria) SOD which is induced by manganese and
2. Cytosolic (contained within the cytoplasm of the cell) which in induced by Copper and Zinc.
Both manganese SOD (MnSOD) and Copper/Zinc SOD (CuZnSOD) protect tissues converting superoxide free radicals into hydrogen peroxide, which further catabolise by catalase and glutathione peroxidase into water and oxygen.
Superoxide radicals are extremely reactive molecules produced as by-products of normal cellular metabolism, particularly in processes involving oxygen utilisation, such as aerobic respiration.
These radicals can cause oxidative damage to cellular components like proteins, lipids, and DNA if they accumulate in excessive amounts.
For the SOD enzymes to function properly, they need an adequate dietary supply of manganese, copper, and zinc.
Superoxide Dismutase inducers such as Muskmelon 🍉 have antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory properties.
Muhdo Health research has shown that a Muskmelon 🍉 rich SOD inducer produced a significant reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokine TNFa as well as a significant increase in IL-10.
