As we say goodbye to the summers sun 🌞 and all start to head indoors for the winter ☃️, do you find that either yourself or members of your family seem to suffer more with asthma 🫁 or seasonal asthma?
Lots of things can trigger an asthma 🫁 attack or tight chest, from pollution levels, central heating, or dust mites. But nobody seems to mention nutrition 🥗and what deficiencies in your diet will most probably be causing the asthma 🫁 in the first place?
Asthma 🫁 is largely caused through a deficiency in 3 key nutrients, magnesium, manganese, and essential fatty acids.
Essential fatty acids such as Omega 3’s 🐟 are required by the lungs 🫁 as a raw material to create a hormone named E Prostaglandins.
The purpose of the E prostaglandins is to keep the bronchi in the lungs 🫁 and trachea open as they are a potent bronchodilator. Whereas F prostaglandins are bronchoconstrictors, which reduce and narrow the width of the airways.
If you have insufficient levels of E prostaglandins then the bronchi and trachea will close, which can lead to asthma.🫁
Asthma UK talk of controlling your inflammation 🔥 in your airways with your inhaler, but as usual no mention of how E prostaglandins are fundamentally important, and or the importance of the key nutrients that will help reduce your symptoms.
There has been a huge amount of research indicating that specific minerals and essential fats are required to reduce the chances or severity of asthma 🫁 , so why this information isn’t readily available to asthma 🫁 suffers is a complete mystery to me.
Well one reason could be simply that there are no large corporate 💰 profits to be made from the manufacture or sale of vitamins, minerals, and natural remedies for asthma, which are largely unpatentable.
Meaning that there is simply no incentive for funding 💰this critical area of research and is completely overlooked and neglected.
We should also mention some other key ingredients, which might help alleviate asthma if introduced into your diet.
𝐋𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞
Liquorice has a soothing prednisone like effect on the bronchioles and upper respiratory tract, with the tea being particularly good for asthma 🫁 as well as sore throats.
𝐆𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐠𝐨 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚
Ginkgo biloba contains a component called Ginkgolides, which has anti platelet activating factors for asthma 🫁 , and so ginkgolide b is an extremely useful nutrient for the treatment of asthma.
Also remember to reduce the amount of gluten in your diet, so no bread 🍞, pasta 🍝 or wheat-based breakfast cereals, which other than processed/fast foods are probably the food groups that are causing the most amount of damage to our health.
Gluten slowly destroys the intestinal lining and thus reduces your ability to absorb the vitamins and minerals etc that you need. Plus, the vast majority of breads 🍞and cereals 🥣 which contain gluten are extremely pro-inflammatory and void of any beneficial nutrients.
