𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐍𝐀 🧬𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲!!
Are you generally an optimist and full of seasonal joy like Santa🎅🏽, or pessimist and a bit grumpier like The Grinch!?
Well, this can be partially explained through your DNA and understanding certain genes!🧬
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐗𝐓𝐑 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞🧬
OXTR might have some bearing on whether you are a bit more like Santa 🎅🏽or possibly The Grinch, as it encodes the oxytocin receptor.
The OXTR gene🧬 is often called the “cuddle hormone” and has been extremely well studied 📚 for its influence on certain emotional responses including as to whether you are more of an optimist or pessimist.
OXTR affects how sensitive you are to oxytocin through the number, and availability of oxytocin receptors in your brain🧠. This is largely down to which specific variants of the OXTR gene 🧬you may have?
Polymorphisms (genetic variations) in the OXTR gene🧬, especially rs53576 and rs2254298, have been linked to differences in emotional outlook.
rs53576 (G/G, or A/A variants)
When we sent Santa 🎅🏽his Muhdo Health DNA 🧬kit last year his results showed that he has the G/G genotype. This shows greater social sensitivity, emotional resilience, and optimism.
Whilst Grinchy had the A/A genotype and was genetically predisposed to being more prone to stress🤯, anxiety🥲, depression and pessimism.
This could possibly be due to reduced oxytocin receptor sensitivity, so might explain why he’s such a miserable so and so during the festive 🎄season!
So, the question today is are you genetically 🧬more like Santa 🎅🏽and full of seasonal joy or a bit of a mood hoover like The Grinch!
What do your DNA 🧬results reveal about you?
Are you more like Santa or The Grinch?
