Now, we hear a lot out various countries from around the world
, or their “Blue Zones” where certain regions
and/or populations seem to have a secret elixir
to longevity, and often living to 90-100
years of age isn’t that remarkable and seems to be somewhat of the norm!
𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬?
1. Diet
2. Sunnier Climate
3. Less Stress
4. A Coastal Breeze and Dip in the Water
5. The local Wine
Or possibly some other “Je Ne Sais Quoi”
Well, after a little bit of digging around in our global Epigenetic data set of 15,000 people or so, we have decided to have a bit of fun to start the New Year and 2025 off and have complied
a Top Ten of some of the slowest
and fastest
ageing countries from around the world!!
We did this utilising our Methylpace clock, which is basically an advanced tool designed to measure and analyse biological ageing through the science of epigenetics.
Unlike chronological age, which simply reflects the number of years since you were born, biological age provides a true measure of the body’s cellular health and how it has been influenced by environmental
and lifestyle
factors.
This cutting edge technology uses DNA methylation, a key epigenetic mechanism, as a precise
biomarker to assess how individuals are possibly ageing at a molecular level.
When we were analysing postal addresses and methylpace norms, countries/areas
with the best ageing, who came out top!?
1. Singapore – 23% slower (per 10 chronological years, only 7.7 biological years pass)
2. Italy and Spain – 18% slower
3. Sweden – 17.6% slower
4. Denmark, Switzerland – 17% slower
5. Japan – 14.2% slower
6. U.K. – 3.4% slower
7. Germany – 0.3% slower
8. Canada – 0.1% faster
9. USA – 1.2% faster
10. India – 2.3% faster
How do you think your country would rate with either being fast or slow ageing!?
